A Full-Circle Moment: Being Interviewed by my Functional Medicine Mentor

There are moments in life that feel like destiny at work—where the dots connect in a way that makes you pause in deep gratitude. Being invited by Tracy Harrison to present a case in an interview is one of those moments for me.

For those unfamiliar, Tracy Harrison is a powerhouse in the functional medicine space, a thought leader, and an educator who has transformed the way we understand root-cause healing. She has not only shaped the landscape of functional medicine as the lead educator at my alma mater, the School of Applied Functional Medicine, but has also played a profound role in shaping my own journey into this field.

I first discovered Tracy as a patient, desperately trying to decipher my 'mystery' symptoms. I was searching for answers, frustrated with conventional medicine’s inability to connect the dots. Her work was a lifeline, offering hope and insights that finally made sense of my experiences. Through her teachings, I began to understand the intricate connections within my body and the power of functional medicine.

I was captivated by her ability to weave together science, compassion, and real-world application in a way that made complex health concepts accessible. At a time when I was transitioning from my career in international relations and development into health coaching and functional medicine, her work was both an inspiration and a roadmap for me. I remember devouring her teachings, feeling both the thrill of new understanding and the deep conviction that I was on the right path.

Today, many years later, being invited by Tracy herself to present a case feels like a full-circle moment—a recognition not just of the work I have done but of the personal growth and transformation I’ve undergone along the way. It is an affirmation of the commitment I made to helping women navigate their hormonal transitions, regain their metabolic health, and reclaim their vitality.

This invitation was more than professional validation; it’s deeply personal. It’s a moment that reminds me why I do what I do, why I took the leap into this field, and why I continue to push forward in helping women advocate for their health.

I stepped into this opportunity with deep gratitude—not just for the chance to share my knowledge but for the mentors like Tracy who have unknowingly guided me here. It proves that when we follow our passion with purpose, the right doors open at the right time.

Here’s to full-circle moments, to honouring the journey, and to continuing to learn, grow, and contribute in meaningful ways.
